Raccoons are nuisance Grand Prairie creatures that most of us are familiar with. It is not that difficult to find them even in the urban settings. Before the raccoon starts to rummage our trash bin and chew our electrical wires, you should find ways to eliminate them. 

Killing the Raccoon in Our Yard

In some states there are laws that are protecting the raccoons. In Washington DC, you are not allowed to kill them especially if you do not carry the necessary license. There are also regulations that govern the hunting of this specie during the raccoon season. Trapping and removal of the raccoon would be permitted especially if it has invaded your property.

Poisoning

Let us first remind you that there are no commercially available Grand Prairie poisons that are specifically designed for raccoons. This is due to the fact that killing them using poison is not allowed under the law. On the off chance that this is allowed in your state, we still do not recommend the use of poison. It contains hazardous chemical ingredients that are dangerous to your health. The chemical spores that it will release can irritate your lungs and respiratory tract. In addition, it is an indiscriminate killer. There is no way to guarantee that you will be killing a raccoon. Your pets and kids are also exposed to the same dangers.

Shooting

The use of firearm is illegal in densely populated areas. In addition, the Texas raccoons are agile creatures that will make it difficult for you to shoot them. Before you use guns, be sure that you are well-versed on the local laws that pertain to the use of firearms. Otherwise, you will be dealing with a huge mess and hefty fines.

Grip Trap

This kind of trap can kill the raccoon in just a few seconds. There are different types of grip traps that are available in the market. They come with a variety of jaws and trigger mechanism. Once the grip trap snaps the spine of the creature, this will result to an immediate demise. In case you are using this method, you need to ensure that your kids and pets will have a minimum access to your yard. Otherwise, your pet can end up with a severe injury.

Humane Method

For those who choose a more humane method to kill them, you can use a Texas live trap to capture them first. After this, you can take them to an animal center and they will perform euthanasia on your behalf. There are also CO2 chamber that you can purchase on the market. Both methods have numbing effect and the creature will not feel any pain when you kill them.

Killing the raccoon will not deliver a long-term solution to your Grand Prairie infestation problem. If the root cause of the problem has not been addressed, it will only take a short time before a new creature will invade your property.
